These projects are mostly in my head at present, they
are all based on AVR microcontrollers and will perform functions that
I feel are useful in the motorhome environment in which I live.
| Project |
Status |
Speedometer
The truck's speedo broke years ago and I've never got around to fixing
it, anyway I could do with some trip meters. |
Functional |
Fridge monitor
Will record the duty cycle of the fridge compressor, current used,
and the temperature. Possibly also the fact that the door is open
which can sound an alarm if the truck is moving. |
Dreamware |
Level-o-meter
Using an accelerometer and micro to drive a display in the cab that
shows me when the house is level. As the truck's house and cab can
be vastly different in angle some form of remote sensing is required. |
Dreamware |
Water tank level monitor
Using a pressure gauge this will give accurate readings of the water
level in our tanks. |
Dreamware |
Battery voltage monitor
Monitors the voltage on an individual battery, must be isolated from
the battery being measured.
|
Dreamware |
Current monitor
Monitors the current (up to 20A) on a line.
|
Dreamware |
Solar panel monitor
Monitors the current being produced by a solar panel. Possibly just
the above current monitor.
|
Dreamware |
Oven thermometer
We currently use those thermometers that you put inside the oven but
they are a pain in the arse, always in the way, and often have to
be removed to fit the food being cooked. So using a thermocouple I
should be able to make one with a digital readout that can stay permanently
connected with the sensor in the oven. And while I'm at it maybe a
timer. |
Dreamware |
Network
Of course it would be nice to link all these things together and I
can feel a network design coming on, I've even started writing the
specs. See here
for more information. |
In design |
Master controller
The Master Control Unit (MCU) will display many of the above on one
screen probably with a touch panel for the user interface. It will
also provide control for the network. |
Dreamware |
That should keep me busy for the next decade or so.
Who knows if I'll do any of these but I have made a start on the speedo
so I'll wait and see how that goes.
